Why? Can you not install the latest update for it, and subsequently repair the installation?Regards | Aaron www.aaron-rendell.co.uk | SharePoint Consultant | Microsoft Gold Partner - Silversands, Poole, Dorset, England

to Hemendra Agrawal: of course its is clear that this is beeing done from control panel :) But simply uninstalling and installing .Net will crash your system. There are definetely additional steps required to fix IIS and Net associations... I tried aspnet_regiis.exe -i but it was insufficient. That is why I am looking for info on reinstalling .Net on WSS server.Tofig

to Aaron Rendel: Thanks for your post. As I already mentioned above simply unistalling and installing .Net messes up IIS. And as a result of this WSS stop operating... I tried to register asp with aspnet_regiis.exe -i but this did not help either. For example I have a situation when starting the CA from progam files (http://servername:22272/) fails but adding default.aspx to this url does work. Also content web application failed. .Net , IIS and WSS are not aware of each other... I am looking for the steps to fix the WSS server after .Net has been reinstalled. Any advice on this?Tofig

Do you have an error message being displayed? Are you sure its IIS and not the SharePoint related IIS web sites?Regards | Aaron www.aaron-rendell.co.uk | SharePoint Consultant | Microsoft Gold Partner - Silversands, Poole, Dorset, England

to Aaron: For CA site is basically the problem that http://servername:22272/ not automatically redirectes to http://servername:22272/default.aspx Content webapplication site has another eroor, but that seems to be related to this issues as wel.

Sounds more like the default fiel type isn't listed within IIS for the web site. The location to change the setting differs between IIS 6 and 7 - however if you look for 'Default Document' and add default.aspx this may solve your issue. How do the other web applications behave?Regards | Aaron www.aaron-rendell.co.uk | SharePoint Consultant | Microsoft Gold Partner - Silversands, Poole, Dorset, England

I though so too, but its more that that :) Adding default.aspx to Defaault Documents does not help. Is simply does not work. But does work when you type it... Looks very strange is not it :) I also have another working server with MOSS (not WSS) and sites on that server do not have default.aspx in Defaault Documents either. However CS sites like this http://servername:22272/ is beeing automatically redirected to http://servername:22272/default.aspx But as I said, the problem is installing/unistalling .Net on WSS / Sharepoint server. You can not just unstall and install it, some corrective steos have to be done to fix the situation... Have you ever seen info for reinstalling .Net on Sharepoint server? Tofig

I can not belive that no one had ever experienced similar situation. Reinstalling .Net is quite common advice for cases when some patches fail. What is the official/adviced procedure for this (on MOSS server)?Tofig

Babu: The question is about uninstall and install. Additionaly you can not upgrade if higher version is already installed. Tofig
