In a form library, document library or list there are columns that allow the users to click & filter according to the column items. As an example if there is column called 'Travel Agent', when the user click on that column it will expand with all the travel agents & if clicked 1 item the list or the library shows the data that regard only to that travel agent. That is a simple filter.

But when consider about a filter like ' Travel Agent starts from w - (like w*) ' or Arrival Date >23/10/2013 how am I supposed to do one of those? Because in SharePoint Server 2010 when click on a column the user cannot do one of the above. So how am I supposed to do that?

This is a very hard problem to solve so could someone help me?
