Hi All,

is it possible to restrict users to saving the files on C drive and creating folders. i know by default domain users don't have permission to save the file on C drive or on windows root but still they have rights to create folder and save the word/excel file in those folders.

You could restirct access to the C:\ drive.

Group policy (Local or domain):

User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Windows Explorer

Prevent access to drives from my computer

Enable this and set the drives to restrict. 

(Applications will still work but no files on the c:\ drive will be accessable)

You could also change the permission structure on the C:\ drive, change the Authenticated users permissions or remove it but be careful not to change any other permissions.

Thanks, i already applied this one but after that it is restricting saving any file or folder in C drive but i am also not able to see any file or folder in my document.

We want to open my document and desktop for users to save their data only.

I edited my response above to include a different option

Thanks, i removed that permission after that i am not able create new folder in C drive but still i can create the subfolder and save the file inside the subfolder :)

What about GPO Prevent access to drives from my computer why it is hiding the files and folders in my document.

Modify permissions on subfolders.

In addition, please dont modify permissions on the user profile folder.
