How to recover Central Administration?
In order to migrate the content DataBases of my site to a new SQL Instance I did a backup of all web-apps, then I added a new Content DB in the web-apps, disconect from the old one, and restored (stsadm - o restore...) to the new Content DB. So far so good... I applied the same procedure to the web-application hosting the Central Administration with fatal results. From that very moment I disconected (delete) from the admin-contentDataBase the Central Administration isn't available anymore. This is kind of logic and I had talken this most likely behavior into consideration. What I didn't expect, was that the restore command on that port would not be executed because of an "access denied" error. I tried everything, changed the application pool to domain admin and specified in stsadm username to domain admin... I alway would get "acces denied", even if I try -o addcontentdb. I deleted the web-application and the application pool for the Central Administration and ran the SharePoint Wizard in order to have the CA rebuilt, but this doesn't work either... the web-app seems to be disconnected from any content db The site is running, but I urgently need to access the Central Administration. Any suggestion?
