We're using SP2010 and we would like to know if it is possible to control indexing of embedded objects.

More precisely, we would like to prevent indexing of embedded objects in office documents.

Do you have knowledge of a parameter for this ?

Hi Sebastien,

I have tested in my environment and it worked fine.

More detail steps:

1. Create a doc embedded with Excel objects.

2. Upload the doc file to a site collection.

3. Run a full crawl.

4. Search .xlsx file, but no results for the doc file which embedded with excel objects.

Could you please provide a screenshot about the search result with the embedded excel objects?

Hello Dean,

In our case it's not a complete excel file that is embedded but just a part of a stylesheet which has been copied from excel to word.

You have to search for something that is in the content of the embedded excel object.
