How to prevent indexing of embedded objects ?

Hello,

We're using SP2010 and we would like to know if it is possible to control indexing of embedded objects.

More precisely, we would like to prevent indexing of embedded objects in office documents.

Do you have knowledge of a parameter for this ?

Thanks,

Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

Could you please provide a screenshot about how you added the embedded excel object in the word document?

I have tested and the embedded excel object cannot be indexed in the search result.

I copied and pasted excel object in to a word named Test, also use the provided steps to add excel object to a word named TestAgain(the same content), search Jun(in the excel content ):

Thanks,

Hi Dean,

Thanks again for your answer,

I don't know how the Excel object was included in the Word document.

The example i showed you above is a production document, created by a user.

It is sure that it is an Excel Object as when you click on it, you got stylesheets tabs.

Can you give a link to download your word test document so that I upload it on our environment ?

Best Regards,

Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

The reply above I have provided the steps how I inserted an embedded object from an Excel file to Word file.

After finishing this, double click the embedded object, and we will have the file like this:
