How to move a list in same site with meta data's (Created, created by, Look up & etc)?
Hi, We are using SP 2007 with sp2. We have a list under one site. We would like to move all items or part of itmes from that list to other list in same site. Whether its possible to do? When I created one more list and tried to move one list item following like this, Site Actions -> Site Administration -> Selected source list and destination list -> Move item First we are getting error "Cannot be moved or copied onto itself or one of its branch". After accepting OK. again shows one more error "An error was encountered performing this operation. You may re-try the operation, and you may need to clean up the half-created data first before re-trying. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator." List template method, backup & restore not taking lookup's. How we can move Other than List template, the easy way to move items one list to other list in same site. Like using any stsadm command copy list item / move list item. Thanks & Regards,Sree

Hi learn4share, Thank you for your post. First, could you please check the following article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-sharepoint-services-help/copying-or-moving-sharepoint-lists-HA001154562.aspx. Although it is mainly about move SharePoint Lists between different sites, I think you can try the way it has mentioned. Then, you can look at this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointgeneral/thread/c5984714-218b-49a3-91e9-5f8d361e1853. Maybe you can find your answer from it. Hope this could help you. Regards.
