How to monitor email flow/routing with a SMTP mail server.
Hey Team,
we have a SMTP Mail server (not Exchange or lotus or etc) which sends bulk e-mails to our recipiants across the globe (kind of surveys).
we need to create a email loop back monitor which can monitor the mail flow (sending \ receiving) to hotmail\AOL\Yahoo etc. We have already been monitoring this using SiteScope but we need to do it using SCOM R2. not usre if this is
possible.
In brief: SMTP Mailserver sends a E-mail to AOL and receives mail from AOL (auto reply is already in place). This runs every 15min.
Please let me know if you need any further information.

Does this mailserver has logs or writes his events to the Windows Event Logs?
You can also use a TCP Port Monitor which checks If the mailserver is reachable at mostly port 25.
How to Create a TCP Port Monitor
Have you checked at Pinpoint If the vendor of the mailserver you are using in this case has a created a management pack?
