Besides using jQuery, is there an easy way to remove buttons such as 'Bold' and 'Italic' from the RTE tool bar? How about the buttons in the Rich Content Editor web part?

These are all sealed controls that emit HTML. As such, you either have to replace the entire control on the server side (combersome at best) or use something like jQuery to dynamically alter the HTML that was emitted before rendering the page.
