How to make a product merge type of contraption including product pictures?
Hi there, Ive been looking on ways on how i could get this idea to work, the picture ive included is basically a mockup layout of what i want the end result to be , with some comments here and there to make it easier to understand. Im currently this far: Creating a product list and importing all data = No problem (product number is used as unique identifier) Creating a picture library in sharepoint and importing all the pictures = No problem (all pictures are named with product number, unique identifier) I guess my question would be, which component do i use to create this sort of thing, (as theres no button that says, "click here to create product catalog") I figured it would have to be some kind of form layout within a web part, and i spose there will have to be some kind of workflow triggered when clicking the search button, but i cant seem to figure that out either. Id really rather not start programming unless i have to. If you guys could give me some hints on what to look for on the net, or supply some links that might help me reach my goal. Cause at the moment ive been looking on the net, but not finding the things i need, and everything i find that could help turns out to be all programming (which id rather avoid if possible) Let me know if i made this understandable enough or if more info is needed. Im currently trying to uses Designer (but unless i have a manual that tells me where to click in Designer i really dont know where to find what yet), sharepoint in itself is fairly straightforward, but im pretty sure the choices i can get there will not be adequate. (i have full rights in sharepoint, so thats no issue) Many Thanks and Kind Regards, Mattias Lemmens

InfoPath... the Access of the Intrawebs. (And it's hardly programming. Just know that the consumers need to have InfoPath, too.)Steve Clark, MCTS | Twin-Soft.com

Or be using MOSS 2007 Enterprise edition as in that case the users don't need to have copies of InfoPath 2007. this product catalog is not meant for the consumers, theres also not going to be a shopping cart system or anything, it is sposed to be a reference library for salespeople, only our company staff has access to this sharepoint. im not sure if they all have infopath, but i can check with our IT guy i guess. Thanks for the input.

Hi Mattias, Have a look at the Data View Web Part. You could have 2 of them on the page, side by side. The one on the left pulls data from the picture library; the one on the right from the product list. You can refer to the following for more info, including "Suggested Next Steps": http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/create-a-data-view-HA010094804.aspx Best, Eric

Thanks very much for the help guys, im well on the way now, i tried infopath and succeeded (infopath was really easy:) ), but in the end it turned out that we cant implement infopath into sharepoint because we have some sort of demo version that wont allow this. So i went with Data views in the end, which was slightly more tricky, well its not difficult really, you just gotta know :). anyways im not done yet, but just wanted to thank you guys for putting me on the right path and to show you the fruits of my labour :). Im not quite there yet, but i already have a function search engine, so now its just a matter of adding some functions, maybe some extra filters and such. Thanx! SolidNev
