How to load flat files From NAS(Network-attached storage ) To SQLserver database?
HI i know basic ssis Knowledge,i can develop ssis package ,this scinario is littele confusing whether work are not ? i am confusing please see the sinario and guide me to go write path then i can start my project confidently. 1) Flat files are prasent in Nas(Network-attached storage ),can read data from nas path directly? or defnetly data will load in local server .. 2) what are the problems i face when read directly from nas(Network-attached storage ) path ? 3)if possible how it possible what are the chalenges i face from read data from nas(Network-attached storage ) 4) are i have to use (FTP or SMTP ) task? thanks prashanth

NAS/SAN is just a remote file system. Must be transparent to the OS to the largest part it sees it as a drive e.g. E:\SSIS_Data\ so I do not see any issue, somebody was just very detailed in her/his documentation. No need to use FTP/SFTP copy/move work just fine. The only caveat I can see is with the OS "seeing" the file as on disk while it still is sitting in cache of the NAS, then some latency/delay can occur, or a FileWatcher may not fire reliably, but I doubt on a properly configured NAS you will see any difference.Arthur My Blog
