Thank you for your reply.

I am trying to install an MS Access app (which is saved as an package).

I am able to click on Add an App on SharePoint  -> Select the Access App -> Browse the app saved on my system.

I could see the App under Recent tab (on the left side of the share point). However when i go to edit page -> insert -> app part , I don't see that app any more.Could you please let me know what needs to be done.

Hi Hitesh,

In a SharePoint site, if you want to insert an app into a page, it will require to create an App part in Visual Studio to hold the app for supporting to be inserted into a page.

More information about App Part:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp179921.aspx

For Access Web App which is developed from Office desktop application, since it is not supported to be package with an app part, a suggestion is that you can develop an App for SharePoint along with an App Part, then you will be able to insert an app to a page.

Create app parts to install with your app for SharePoint

so why in SharePoint 2013 is there a "Add an APP" function which is called Access Web App if it is not supported as an app in sharepoint?

Hi,

Have you configured access service application from central admin? There's a bit of work required to configure the Access Service Application. It's not configured by default but only provisioned during SharePoint Installation.

Please configure the service application as explained in the link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj714714.aspx.
