How to install SQL Server 2008 (not R2) Reporting Services on Windows 2008 R2?
I need to install SQL Server 2008 (not R2) Reporting Services on 2 Windows 2008 R2 machines and both reporting services will use the default instance of SQL Server 2008 (not R2) Database Engine Services on another Windows 2008 R2. What other SQL Server features are recommended to be installed along with SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services? If I understand correctly, IIS is optional since there are web services component in SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services. If IIS is optional but an application using the Reporting Services needs IIS, how should I set up this?

In SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, we do not need IIS at all. The Report Manager and Report Server applications can be supported using the HTTP listener (http.sys) that is already part of Windows 2003 Server and above. This is a much more secure architecture.Anup | Forum Support| If you think my suggestion is useful, please rate it as helpful. If it has helped you to resolve the problem, please Mark it as Answer.
