How to image computers without onboard NIC
Hi,
I have a challenge imaging a computer does not come with onboard NIC connector. Dell ships a USB to RJ45 adapter for wired connection. I am able to image the computer but after imaging, the device is not recognize by SCCM. The client on
the device ID is No. The device or adapter become an unknown device with the MAC address and BIOS GUID associated with it. After imaging, the device can connect to the domain and get an IP address but won't be able to reach out to Internet or access
to the network. What is the best practice to image device without onboard NIC? Any suggestion how to correct the device cannot reach out to the network?
Thanks,

So there's no wireless NIC either?

Yes, only after I imaged it. We block wireless to private domain network.

The client is not assigned to your site because the IP address that it has does not fall into the boundary of your site. Please check your site boundary settings and make sure that it covers the IP address of your client.

I press F8 and the IP address of the client. It is in any boundary. Does it mean I have to image the client from one of the boundaries defined in SCCM? It is interesting that it allowed me to image and complete the whole task sequence.
I just could not connect to the network afterward. I looked at the smts.log and see some errors like: Error. Received 0x80072ee7 from WinHttpSendRequest. unknown host (gethostbyname failed) TSManager.

You need to look at the IP address of the client in the full OS (not in WinPE).
