How to identify the SQL database Opalis is using?

Greetings,

I've just had the pleasure of getting involved with an Opalis to Orchestrator upgrade project and have been coming up to speed on the Opalis stuff. My background is mostly ConfigMgr, so this is a new system for me.

While looking through everything, something that I'm having problems working out is how to identify what database Opalis is currently using. As a consultant who works with multiple clients, this has struck me as a very odd thing, and I can't figure out why it's so hard to find. I can't find any config files, registry entries or anything that seem to have the current database settings defined. If I run the Opalis "Database Configuration" tool it just asks for new details and doesn't give any hints of the existing settings.

I've worked with a lot of clients who have systems that were installed "years ago" and no one working there knows anything about them. I can imagine a scenario where Opalis is installed, there's no documentation anyone can find, and the person who set it up is long gone. Fortunately that isn't the case in this situation, but how would someone "locate" the database currently being used?

Regards,

Scott.

Hi Scott,

to identify which Database is Opalis currently using.

Open "Deployment Manager"

Click right on "Management Server" and select "Properties"

In the "Management Server Properties" click "Management Server" tab

In the "Management Server" tab you see "Database Server" and "Database Name"

Opalis identify Database

Btw, is the same in Orchestrator ...

Stefan
