How to grant a user permission to one library in WSS 3.0
Say that I have five libraries in SharePoint. How do I grant a user (or a group of users) access to only one of the five libraries in WSS 3.0? This means that the user, as a contributor, can see, edit, modify and read documents and folders within the one library? Thanks for any help that anyone can offer. Kristie

First, I'd create a group with the respective members and attached permissions. You can then break permission inheritance on the library from the parent site, and then apply this custom group only. The security trimming within MOSS will ensure that the those without approriate permissions won't see the library or its contents.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

Hi Kristie2011, You can do this by following these steps: 1. Go to your subsite and go into the document library. 2. Then go to Document Library Settings -> Permission and Management -> Permission for this document library. 3. You will see all the users and user groups in this site. 4. Select the respect user or group and grant the permission to it. Thanks & Regards, Peng Lei

Steven, Thanks for posting a reply to my question from Kristie2011. Can this be done without breaking permissions? I would prefer not to break permissions if possible. Also, once permissions are broken, can you advise how to re-establish permissions with the parent permissions...is this possible to re-establish. Really appreciate your help Kristie

Steven, Would you happen to know if SharePoint 2007 WSS or SP 2010 would have the option to make my SharePoint webpage a read only webpage? That means that those with access would not be able to print documents. They could view and read only. As of current, I have Adobe Writer and converted documents into "no print" or "secure" pdfs before the document is posted. This meets my criteria of "no print" until I can one day have a no-print through SharePoint. It is time consuming to convert each document into a pdf. but my situation calls for it, therefore the temporary solution through Adobe. Any help you can offer on a "no print" for all documents and users posted in SharePoint would be appreciated. Thanks. Kristie Landon
