How to give permissions to a domain user or group to access reports in Reports Server
Sandeep, When you are adding the user through New Role assignment, what role you are giving the user? - Try giving it all the rights (Browser, Content Manager, My Reports .. etc) and check if it is working. In the Dataset of the report, are you authenticating the user? Regards - Manoj

Hi Sandeep, Thanks for your question and Manoj’s reply. According to the description through the thread, based on my research and experiences, the issue seems caused by the domain user has no permissions to execute the T-SQL query of the dataset 'UserGeoDimVehicleDealerOrigin'. Does your report’s Data source use Windows Authentication? If in this case, the report will pass the domain user’s account and password as the credential to the report server, then using this credential to access the database. If the domain user has no permissions, it will be this error. In order to resolve this issue, please grant the execute permissions to the user. There is a similar thread of yours, please see: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/6c4a5f1d-ef08-4047-9b3e-8dff58264a33. Hope it helps you, if your issue still exists, please feel free to let me know. Thanks, Sharp Wang Best Regards. Sharp Wang

Hi Sharp, Thanks for your reply. I checked we had developed sql cube reporting. So i need to give permission to user in Analysis Services also. So after i gave permission the issue is resolved. So to wrap up ..i need to give permissions to user in 1. Sharepoint site. 2. Report Manager --> add user as content manager. 3. In SQL under Security and 4. in analysis services if using cube. Please advise if i am correct and covered all levels for permissions. -- Kind Regards Sandeep
