How to get TTGetEmbeddingType for font
I have a report that is not displaying a font when exported to PDF. According to the following article, if the TTGetEmbeddingType is set to EMBED_NOEMBEDDING, then it will not embed it in the PDF file. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159713(SQL.90).aspx The problem is that I'm not sure how to retrieve this value for the font in question. Could someone explain how to do this?Nathon Dalton Software Developer Systems Administrator Network Administrator Blog: http://nathondalton.wordpress.com

Hi Nathon, Go to Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items - >Fonts, choose one of them you want, right click it and select Properties to open the Font Properties box, in this box, click Details tab to see this font Property information. If there are no Details tab of your fonts Properties box, you can download the font Properties extension from http://www.microsoft.com/typography/TrueTypeProperty21.mspx to enable it. thanks, Jerry

Hi Nathon, Also make sure that the font you are using in your report is installed on the report server, not just your client. Best regards, Andre

Yea, that's the first thing I checked. The barcode shows in the report in Reporting Services, but when exported to PDF, it all of a sudden doesn't show up anymore. The font shows as installable and it's on the report server, the client and when I export the report to PDF, it's listed in the list of embedded fonts. I've even moved the other things around the barcode down to ensure there's enough room and it's not being covered up or not displayed because there isn't enough room. I'm not sure what to do from here. :( Any ideas? P.S. - I'm using the FREE 3 OF 9 Regular & Extended fonts by Matthew Welch, version 1.01. nathon, were you able to fix the font issue in the exported PDF file? Please let me know the fix. please note, I need to verify whether my report server has this font or not. But before that just wanted to know in your case installing the font on report server fixed the issue or not? ps: I am also using the Free 3 of 9 regular font. Thanks Jaydeep

JaydeepV, No, I was never able to get it fixed. The problem is that the font displays in the report just fine, the report exports to other formats just fine. However, when exporting to PDF the barcode is replaced with the text it's supposed to represent (e.g. Barcode representing 1234567 just shows 1234567 instead). When you look at the components packaged in the PDF file, it shows that the font IS there. Also, I verified that the font supports embedding. I don't know what's going on. Sorry I wasn't any help.Nathon Dalton Software Developer Systems Administrator Network Administrator Blog: http://nathondalton.wordpress.com

Hi All, I ran into this same problem for the Free 3 of 9 Extended TrueType font. The font was not embedding when rendering reports from the SSRS server. I was able to fix the problem by restarting the computer that the font was installed on. It was necessary to restart the entire machine; not just the SSRS services. In addition, I believe that you must have SSRS 2008R2 or more recent in order for the font embedding to work properly. Hope this helps.
