How to generate Report Model using SQL Server Management Studio?
Hello friends,
I have downloaded a document file for Report Model from this link,
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/7/a/47a548b9-249e-484c-abd7-29f31282b04d/SSRS_ReportModel.doc
According to this doc we can create Report Model using Report Designer (BIDS), Report Manager and SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS). I was able to create it using Report Designer (BIDS), Report Manager, but I cannot find procedure to do it through SSMS.
Can you please help me with that.
And I want to ask one more question that where I can find a tutorial to understand an report model (I can't even understand it's structure) and how to create queries in Report Builder using Report Model as data source (I can't understand it's structure either).
Please help me, I need your guidance.
Thanks in advance.-- NMathur

Hi Uri,
Thanks for reply, I already tried that link but after connecting to my Report Server I can only view and access three folders that are - Jobs, Security and Shared Schedules. But that document is talking about DataSource folder, which I cannot find. Please
tell me what should I do.
Thanks-- NMathur

No it should have a folder where your reports are located (you specify that folder when you deploy project) Best Regards, Uri Dimant SQL Server MVP http://dimantdatabasesolutions.blogspot.com/ http://sqlblog.com/blogs/uri_dimant/

Hi Uri and all,
No I can't see that folder :(
I thought that this is some permission issue but I am accessing server as an administrator (mySystem\administrator). Or may be it is because of SQL Server version, but I don't have any knowledge about it. So I am posting SQL Server info here so that you
can review this and help me. Sorry for not mentioning them in first post.
Here is my SQL Server 2008 R2 info:
Product version: 10.50.1617.0
Product level: RTM
Edition: Enterprise Evaluation Edition (64-bit)
I hope you can guide me well and tell me the procedure to access my reports and datasources through SSMS.
Thanks.

Hello Friends,
I have finally found the reason why I was not able to manage report server through Management Studio because Home folder is removed from SQL Server 2008 and later versions. I was looking at the wrong place, the document which I was referring was applied
to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Service.
Thanks.
