Are you looking at gathering information from sub sites which are in the same site collection? If yes below are few options

1. You can use a Content Query WebPart to read all items from the site collection and diplsay them. You can use XSLT to apply proper styling.

2. If you are looking at writing a Server Object Model Code (a Visual Web Part), you can use the SPSiteDateQuery to get all items in the site collection from a certain list type and display them
