Hi, We use Sharepoint 2007 Moss. At the root site when I log in as System Account I see this error message on top. How can I find where or which list is causing this error? There are many sub sites and lists under this root site so I really need more information on how to locate the problem list. Thank you. One or more field types are not installed properly. Hi laJasmine, First check whether the page that you are trying to access as System Account contains any custom webparts. If Yes, then probably that webpart is referencing any non-existent or deleted fields of some SPList / Document Library. In this case you can narrow your investigation scope to all the lists that are referenced by this problematic webpart. If No, then as an alternative, you can check for similar errors in the [14] Logs. It seems that the problematic list is the "Pages" library on your root site. Check the Pages library located at url "https://med-sp01.med.usc.edu/Pages/Forms/AllItems.aspx" to see if the problematic field exists there or not.

I see there is a new page which is new and could be the one causing the problem. how can I check if it's causing the problem and where on that page is causing the problem? Do I need to somehow use Visual studio or Sharepoint Designer to open it? Thanks. Also, when I look at that person who edit that page, I don't see him as one of the owner or member of the root site. How did he get permission to create and change out the start up page for our root site? Thank you

The field types error refers to a column that the library can't render. This is a typical error when programmatic column creation has gone wrong or there's an error in the FIELDTYPES.XML that defines the column types within SharePoint 2007. normally within your error URL you can see the GUID of the source list. You can then use SharePoint manager to find out to which list that guid belongs to.SharePoint Developer
