Hi Jo Tse,
When a client attempts to connect (register) to a Lync pool, it hits the load balancer and is connected to a pool. If the server is not the home server for the user, it is issued with a redirect
to the actual home server.
In Lync 2013, users data is stored within routing groups, each routing group contains up to three Front End servers, a primary, a secondary and a tertiary. For example, if the primary server
fails, the User Group fails over to the secondary server; if the secondary server fails or is unavailable when the primary fails, then the User Group fails over to the tertiary server. Now, in an extreme case where the tertiary fails, Windows Fabric elects
another Front End server (assuming one is available), retrieves the persistent state information from the backend SQL Server database, and forms a new User Group for the user to log in to.
Best regards,
Eric
