How to disable email notifications for a WSS 3.0 custom list?
I have a custom WSS 3.0 list ("Ops Tasks") defined to manage tasks/workflow. The list is configured to allow 2 content types: - TaskType1 content - a Custom Content Type with a parent of MasterTask content - TaskType1 content - a Custom Content Type with a parent of MasterTask content. "MasterTask content" is a custom Content Type with a parent of "Tasks". I have a custom 1-step workflow attached to the "Ops Tasks" list. It performs one action only - i.e. it creates a new list item if a list column is set to a particular value. Whenever I create a new item in "Ops Tasks" I get the message "The content of this item will be sent as an e-mail message to the person or group assigned to the item". I'd like to disable email notifications, but can't work out how. I've tried looking in "Advanced Settings" for the list but there is no option relating to email notifications. Can anyone advise on how I can disable email notifications on my list?

Sounds like the custom list is not based on a task list even though you are using task content types. If your list is actually sending emails there is a property you can change using a tool like SharePoint Manager 2007 (http://spm.codeplex.com/ make sure you get 2007 on the downloads page not 2010). Using SPM travel down the hierarchy until you reach your list. Locate the property EnableAssignToEmail and set it to false. Hopefully this will work for you. Let me know how it goes.
