Hi There is no upgrade from MOM 2005 to SCOM 2007 R2. You need to deploy SCOM 2007 R2 from scratch and look to recreate all your customisations. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/operationsmanagergeneral/thread/87326c2f-fd11-41e2-a157-fcdde9a5bb82 Cheers GrahamNew SCOM 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.com/blog/ View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Rather than recreating customizations, one should start as graham says, by deploying SCOM R2. Then start importing and learning to manage management packs one by one - starting with something like the operating system or SQL or AD. As you tune each MP and are happy with alert noise, move on to the next one. After getting to your full set of management packs, one by one, this is when you want to do an inventory of what special monitoring was being done and determine if a) it is still valuable and b) that it is not already being done viai a management pack. In countless interviews with successful migrations, this is the path that has been most successful. The least successful migrations (the most of whom are considering themself stuck) are the ones that start by trying to recreate all of the monitors and integrations they had with MOM. A word of advice to save you countless hours of grief - do NOT use the MPconvert tool. It doesn't work, and it isn't supported. Microsoft Corporation
