How to delete old incorrect spelling of a user's name from SHarePOint People Picker? (Full UPA Sync did NOT help)

Hi there,

We mistakenly added John Smit instead of John Smith in AD. Then we corrected this spelling.

Now in SharePoint People Picker if I search for John I get John Smit but not John Smith.
When I search for John Smith then we get right user.

I already ran Full UPA Sync and it did NOT help :-(

How to delete the incorrectly spelled name from my People Picker please?

Thank you so much.

You have to run user profile Profile Synchronization service.

I already ran Full Synchronization twice and it did not help :-(

Any other thoughts please?

Hi ran- not sure if you're aware, but there's two steps: the AD sync and a UPS timer job. Both need to be run. See the following link for info:

If all else fails, delete and re-create the user profile:

What is the next thing we are supposed to do?

Thanks so much.

Hi ran009,

As your description, the user's display name is incorrect in SharePoint 2010.

You can create some PowerShell script to loop all site collections with the user and checks if his display name is different that in profile store. If so the user display name is updated.

There are two similar blogs for your reference:
