How to create a report for analysis services meta data
I want to create a data guide for endusers, so they know where a dimension / attributes are used for. In analysis services I'm able to set the description fields for dimensions / attributes and their corresponding translations. With this information I want to create a report which returns the name and description of the dimension and the name and description of the corresponding attributes. Is there some way to retrieve this information and use it in a reporting servcies report (simular to quering the dictionary tables for 'normal' databases).

Hello Nick, If you are using SSAS 2008 or 2008 R2 then yes; you can query management views with MDX to get the informations; like for dimensions: SELECT * FROM $SYSTEM.MDSCHEMA_DIMENSIONS Olaf Helper * cogito ergo sum * errare humanum est * quote erat demonstrandum * Wenn ich denke, ist das ein Fehler und das beweise ich tglich Blog Xing
