How to configure unlock screen?

Hi,

Of what I understand the unlock screen in Windows 10 have a new design when it comes to not showing the username of the user who locked the computer.

The only way I have managed to get the behavior I am used to from Windows 7 is by configuring the following GPO settings:

Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options:
Interactive logon: Do not display last user name : Enabled

Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options:
Interactive logon: Display user information when the session is locked : User display name, domain and user names

Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon:
Hide entry points for Fast User Switching : Enabled

But how can I get the same functionally without disabling Fast User Switching?

To sum it up:

  • When a computer is started/restarted the username of the last logged on user should not be displayed on the logon screen.
  • When a user lock the computer the username of that user should be displayed on the unlock screen
  • Fast User Switching should be enabled

I have been reading this KB https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3082141 but I really hope it is not true that you have to disable Fast User Switching to accomplish this?

Hi,

Based on my test, yes, you should do the same things as previously in the Windows 7 to meet your requirements.

  • When a computer is started/restarted the username of the last logged on user should not be displayed on the logon screen.

---> Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options

Interactive logon: Do not display last user name entry -> Enabled

  • When a user lock the computer the username of that user should be displayed on the unlock screen

--->Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options

Interactive logon: Display user information when the session is locked -> User display name, domain and user names

  • Fast User Switching should be enabled

--->Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\System\Logon
Hide entry points for Fast User Switching : Enabled
