How to configure SCCM 2007 Site Server with multi-site
We are in the planning phases of the SCCM 2007 implementation. We currently have a WSUS server in each branch office (in AD domain, each branch office is a Site), there are approximately 100 clients in each branch office (connected to headquarters via VPN). We hope manage the SCCM 2007 system centrally from headquarters and each branch office clients can get the update packages from WSUS locally, is there recommendations for array configurations? Our planned is listed below. Please take a look and let me know if you see any role conflicts or any other items that jump out at you. Server01 - located at headquarters - Primary Site/Configuration Manager Console; SMS Provider computer; Component Server; Failback Status Point; Management Point; Reporting Point; Distribution Point; ServerSQL - located at headquarters - SCCM Database server; ServerWSUS - located at headquarters - Software Update Point; Server02 through Server04 - located at each branch office (connected by WAN) - Distribution Point; Looking forward to the additional information. Thanks in Advance.

Your planned configuration will work, but you might think about placing secondary sites at the end of the WAN link (dependig on the # of users and bandwidth). Packages are transfered to DPs using SMB (unthrottled, uncompressed, unscheduled). With secondary sites you can make use of addresses/senders (throttled, compressed, scheduled). You can the also place SUPs on them, so that the scan will also be locally in the remote locations (therefore no need to cross the WAN for scanning).

preloadpkgonsite.exe can do that for you, but only on secondary sites, not on specific DPs. Prestaging packages is only available for branch DPs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb681046.aspx
