How to change host header for a site

Hi,

I installed sharepoint foundation 2013 and was trying to change the host header for the sharepoint application.

I used sharepoint central administration to remove sharepoint application from the IIS site (without deleting the site) and after that extend the application to the site again, this time using the host header.

The problem is that I lost the access to the website, I couldn't access the site anymore ("this site hasn't been shared with you")

Of course I tried to manage users and permissions using the sharepoint central administration, but I couldn't get access to the application again. If I create a new application the result is the same.

I uninstalled sharepoint foundation, installed again and don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you for any help.

Hi Dennes,

Please create a new web application and configure AAM per the following article, then check if it could be accessed successfully.

1. Set fqdn url for the web application from Central Administration site.

2. Set the host header (i.e. fqdn like sp.contoso.com) for SharePoint site from IIS manager.

3. Create an A record from DNS server.

See more from below article.
