How to change default database server in WSS 3.0 to SAN path
We have moved all of our content database to our SAN share. Now we want all of our new content databases to be automatically created in this share. When creating a new application, how do I modify SharePoint Services 3.0 to propagate the path
to the share in the database server field?

So it looks like I can't have the database created in a directory on a share. It must be created in a database. Then my only option would be to install SQL on the SAN and move my SharePoint database to it, correct?

Yes. Ifyou plan to take that route, make sure you use a SQL server alias since that alias can then be pointed to any SQL server.

Are there any options that do not involve using a new database? Is there any way to save the content database directly to the SAN directly?
