How to calculate the bandwidth requirements for Central and Primary sites for distributing patches and software updates
Hi, We are going to deploy four Intranet primary sites (tier2) region wise reporting to central site (tier1). Requirement details below: Primary site1 (tier2) will have 17 sub primary sites (tier3), 70000 workstations will be distributed among them Primary site2 (tier2) will have 15 sub primary sites (tier3), 30000 workstations will be distributed among them Primary site3 (tier2) 10 sub primary sites (tier3), 20000 workstations will be distributed among them Primary site4 (tier2) will have 10 sub primary sites (tier3), 150000 workstations will be distributed among them Total 135000 workstations under single Central site SCCM hierarchy. How can we determine/calculate the bandwidth (Central site (tier1) to/from Primary site (tier2) & Primary site (tier2) to/from primary site (tier3) we require to accomplish the above requirements? Is there any formula to calculate the bandwidth required. Thanks in advance

Just a side note: I don't recommend adding primaries on tier 3. Keep the hierarchy as flat as possible. This simplifies a migration to ConfigMgr 2012. So you planned to implement 4 primaries on tier 2 and 52 primaries on tier 3? It's hard to comment on that without knowing exact details, but 52 primaries might not be necessary. How did you calculate 135k clients? 70k+30k+20k+150k = 270kTorsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi Torsten - Sorry, it is 70k+30k+20k+15k = 135k, typo mistake. Yes, we will have 53 Tier3 primary sites, and 4 Tier2 primary sites. We will use the patch and software distribution, DCM, FEP capabilities. Can you please suggest on the bandwidth requirements. Thanks.
