How to add a physical path in the report
I think that you should provide the PC name, otherwise the report will try to find the file on the server which runs reporting services.Remember to mark as an answer if this post has helped you.

The fact is that i actually work locally, to test and to see how it works. But still, it doesn't work... I don't think I have explained it well, I'll try another way : I have a report made. In one of my database's field, I have a record. I can display the link of each record but the thing that interests me is to read that link. So that I put some text and i am searching to add an action (go to Url) or something like that to read it. I tried HTML (<a href= file ..........) and javascript ( document.open(........)) but any of those are working. Is it at least possible ..? Thanks, ps: I'm french, forgive the misspellings...^^

Hi jimmydano, Thanks for your question and Igor’s reply. According to your description, I understand that you would like to use the file path as a link, although you had tried many different ways, the textbox still can’t action to the path. Actually, since you hope the users view or download the report from the file path, thus I would suggest you replace the file path with the report’s URL of the report viewer. After opened the URL, the user can view or export the report easily. For example, locating to the Action property of the textbox, check Go to URL, then type in the Select URL drop-down list like this: http://ServerName/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?/pathName/reportName Hope it helps you, if your issue still exists, please feel free to let me know. Hi Sharp, In fact, that method is the first one I tried, my manager and I have tested it and we don't have access to that file using the url, all the data are protected and their access is denied... That's why I absolutely need to use the physical path. Thanks, Jimmy Dano

Hi Learning001, Thanks for your reply. I am sorry for didn’t follow up your question in time due to the unusual alert mail. Based on the description through the thread, for the “your PC” I have two different understandings: One understanding, it is the client computer, there is one file in the path of user’s computer, you would like each of the users download the file from the local computer. In this case, I think this is not possible as you are trying to use one URL to download the text file stored in client machine, this action which may result in security violation in the client. The other one understanding, it is the report server. You would like the users download one file stored in the path of report server. In this case, the easiest way is upload this file into another folder of the report server, meanwhile, please set the permission can be accessed by the users. Another way is create one shared folder, then adding the users’ visit permission to the folder. Hope it helps you. If your issue still exists, please feel free to let me know.
