  Do you mean if the pivot table was created by OLAP & Power Pivot, Excel will be not to let us to use "Calculate Item" function ?

with PivotTables created on a PowerPivot model, "calculated items" are replaced by PowerPivot calculated fields (which many people also call "measures"). In the PowerPivot tab, you'll see the calculated fields button which allows you to create or manage them. The syntax uses the DAX language.
