It's a configuration that tells WSUS where to distribute statistics to. It's not needed from a deployment view.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi, I am not sure What is the WSUS (Windows Server Update Service). What is it functions? Does it's only used for updating Client Windows or used for Deploying all software to the clients? I am not sure what is BITS what is it's used for? Please tell me in the simplest words. Thanks

Hello - I think, you are very new to this field and it seems you have to go through some documents and understand the basic terminologies. Also, the below sites would be great to start with. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680651.aspx http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/forum/44-sms-sccm-2007-sccm-2012/ Anoop C Nair

Yes. WSUS is used to update client with patches and updates, and, sccm can use this service to install a client too. You have to install the WSUS role in a server (can be the sccm server) and link the sccm with wsus. And only then you must enable the Software Update Point and after that, the wsus will release this installation for workstations. You can follow these tutorials... http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/624-configuring-software-update-point-within-sccm/ BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) is a component of modern Microsoft Windows operating systems that facilitates prioritized, throttled, and asynchronous transfer of files between machines using idle network bandwidth. BITS uses idle bandwidth to transfer data. Normally, BITS transfers data in the background, i.e., BITS will only transfer data whenever there is bandwidth which is not being used by other applications, for example, when applications use 80% of the available bandwidth, BITS will use only the remaining 20%. BITS constantly monitors network traffic for any increase or decrease in network traffic and throttles its own transfers to ensure that other foreground applications (such as a web browser) get the bandwidth they need. BITS also supports resuming transfers in case of disruptions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Background_Intelligent_Transfer_Service
