How to Create/Update to Outlook 2007 Distribution List
Is there a simple way to export (through a workflow or code) a user column in a list to create/update an Outlook 2007 distribution list? i.e. We have a list of Office Supervisors and want the Sharepoint List to update the Outlook Distribution List for Office Supervisors and not have to update 2 locations when there are changes. Hi Rhonda, You can create a list of people in sharepoint, then have that column do a lookup to it. You can then connect that list to outlook, and manage it from there...drag N' drop....workflows can readily massage it as well... If a simple one-time export, export to excel, then copy and paste that column in outlook. Best regards, S'

SWirch, Thanks for the info.... I do know about exporting to excel and do the copy/paste, but am looking to push this info to multiple locations. Outlook just happens to be one of them. Following your instructions, I found that if you create a 'Contact' type list it only links the 'Title' column and that is a text column type. I would like to use the User/People column type. I have only found that Tasks, Contacts, and Event type lists link to Outlook natively. Am I missing something? Thank you.Rhonda J.

You need to interop with AD Distribution List, here you go: 1. Using C# to Create Distribution Lists http://www.codeguru.com/csharp/csharp/cs_network/directoryservices/article.php/c9729/ 2. Visual Basic Code Example: Creating an Active Directory Domain Services Distribution List http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms699799(VS.85).aspx 3.
