Version history can be removed by contributors, is there a way to make them read only? thanks.

Are you asking on how to keep users from reverting back to older versions of items/documents but still allow them to be viewed?

The users can delete old versions. Can it be disabled so users can't delete old versions? thanks.

Hi IDONO, Thanks for your post. Here is the summary of your requirement. Scenario: You turn on the “enable versioning for a document library”. And the user who has contribute permission can delete the Version history . But you want the version history is read only to the contributor. Solution: You can change the permission level of current site collection. Here are the steps: 1.On the Site Settings page, in the Users and Permissions section, click Advanced permissions. 2.If the Settings menu is not available, select Manage Permissions of Parent from the Actions menu. Otherwise, skip to step 4. Note The Settings menu is not available on the Permissions page if your site is inheriting permissions from its parent site. 3.On the Settings menu, click Permission Levels. 4.On the Permission Levels page, in the Permission Level column, click "Contribute", On the Edit Permission Level page, uncheck the "Delete Versions" 5.After you have made your changes, click Submit.
