How does replication work between Tiers, in particular when deleting systems?
Thanks Sabrina, there is some interesting information in the links you provided. Unfortunately, I can't find the specific information I am looking for. Let me restate my question. We have a multi-tiered site (4 tiers, but I am only working at Tiers 2 through 4 with no access to Tier 1). Because of requirements in our environment and reports that are provided to management, we want to keep our client entries as accurate as possible. To that end, we are identifying duplicate client entries and deleting those that should not exist. I have been told that deleting at a parent site (Tier 2 in our case) will cause deletion at the lower levels (Tiers 3 and 4). I have seen this work, but in some cases this is not happening. So, the real question is, when the deletion is made at the parent site, what mechanism (seems like replication manger to me) should be deleting from the lower tiers. Is this perhaps not working because of the duplicate names? Is there a component that we do not have properly configured?

Not trying to delete any hierarchy, just clean up some duplicate computers.

My understanding is that when you delete a system from a higher level site server it will be removed by replication from lower levels. For example a system that is managed by a Tier 4 site system is deleted from a Tier 2 site server, and should then drop from the Tier 3 and Tier 4 site servers. I am trying to discover why this is not working on some or all of our Tiers. How can I follow the process and find where it is broken? Or am I wrong, and this does not work this way? We are running ConfigMgr 2007 on SQL Server 2008 SP2.

Hi, Please check if the following articles help: How Collections are Replicated to Child Sites How long does SCCM/ConfigMgr site to site replication take?
