How do you create queries based off of Applications?

Background

I have some "Applications" that I have made available for my users that are not software packages. For example my customers need to have a kiosk type device setup. So I made an application that copies over the web page to a device in the startup and the shortcut is set to kiosk mode. I now need to target something to those specific devices. I can pull a report of the devices but I need a query that can be updated and targeted. The only attribute I found in the query that comes close is SMS_G_System_AppClientState.AppName but if I try to use this it tells me the query is invalid.

Question

How do I create a query for a collection that shows me what devices that Application (that was custom made to copy over shortcuts) is installed on?

Thanks in advance.

Does the application have an EXE or any unique identifiers? You can always create a query based on Software Files, so if a particular file is found, the device is added to that collection.

No EXE's. It's just shortcuts and we use them for detection.

Seems that if you can pull reports from the status of Applications you should be able to query off of them as well.

Detection is set up in the application. I would like to have queries so that I can tell what devices have the applications installed.

Yes, I know this is an old post, but Im trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?

So I have re-read this and what you are asking for is not possible without using a script to collect this data first. Once you collect the data, you can write a WQL query to have a list of all devices with that application/package installed.
