How do I use SharePoint WebDAV from non-Windows sources?
Greetings, To start I am running MOSS 2007 SP2 and WSS 3.0 on Windows 2008 64-bit SP2. My environment works fine and opening SharePoint libraries in Windows Explorer works well from all our XP workstations. This issue is non-Windows systems. Everything I am reading states that SharePoint uses it's own WebDAV and does not need the IIS WebDAV. OK this makes sense so far. I also read that if you use IIS WebDAV (even the new 7.5) it can break SharePoint. OK my caution radar is up. My Problem? SharePoint does not truely appear to be WebDAV compliant if I can't have other non-MS hosts access it. Specifically I am trying to get Oracle BI Publisher to connect to SharePoint to upload some pdf and xml reports. I would settle for anyone telling me how to get a non-Windows host to upload files onto a SharePoint library with WebDAV. My source applications all support WebDAV but they do not work with SharePoint. I can however make it work with an IIS 6.0 WebDAV enabled server without SharePoint. Can it be done? If not should MS be putting a disclaimer on it's WebDAV support for SharePoint? Thanks in advance...

Wehave users using Sharepoint as a resource with our SMEStorage Organisation Cloud solution. This inolves a combination of working with the Sharepoint Protocol and Webdav. We implemented a connector that does just that to enable users to access sharepoint files within their SMEStorage Organisation Cloud. Our connector solution is currently in beta with selected partners but we expect to push it out for all users of the Organisation Cloud Solution soon. Neil SMEStorage

> To start I am running MOSS 2007 SP2 and WSS 3.0 on Windows 2008 64-bit SP2 A minor point, but if you as I expect are actually running MOSS 2007 SP2, then that is what you should say. The phrase "I am running MOSS 2007 SP2 and WSS 3.0" should be only used in the unlikely event that you have two farms - a) a MOSS 2007 farm and b) a WSS 3.0 farm.
