How do I set up Sharepoint Extended Extranet Web Site to use SSL?
Hi
I have Extended a Sharepoint Web Site (main web site on port 80) as an Extranet and it works fine. Problem is it isn't using SSL which I want.
How do I set up SSL AFTER site has been created - couldn't see settings in Central Admin.
Thanks.
John.

Not sure which OS is being used. Have a look at these steps for IIS 7:
http://www.sharepointassist.com/2009/02/01/sharepoint-and-ssl-configuring-https-for-sharepoint-on-windows-server-2008-iis7/. These steps will need to be followed for the extended web application. Once IIS has been setup to serve the https site, the next
step is to configure SharePoint to allow that site to be accessed using https. To do this, you will need to setup an Alternate Access Mapping (AAM) for the extended site. This can be done throught Central Admininistration. In the operations tab, select
Alternate Access Mapping. Then click on Edit Public URL's; choose the extended web application and enter the https URL for the site in the Extranet field and click OK.

Here are some great instructions for setting up a new app with SSL:

Neville,
I think that the SSL editing screen shots have been accidentally replaced by binding screen shots again. I checked "Require SSL" and selected "Ignore".
I get as far as the "Continue to this website (Not Recommended)"
Problem is when I continue it goes to my default website as http not https. I am guessing I have an issue with mappings? Any idea what i should have (example)?
Thanks.
John.

Ensure that the port number used is 443. Also, it might be an option to remove the web application extension and add it back with the https this time.

Getting there. I can get it to work internally with (X Invalid Certificate), but externally is another issue. I am calling site externally from say sharepoint.home.com, but I am unsure where to bounce this - Mappings were
setup for Http and https for sharepoint.home.com.

Some articles that might help:

It certainly is possible. Ensure that the certificate is loaded to the extranet site and have a look at "port forwarding" in this article:

Noticed an error at the top of the page "I have Extended a Sharepoint Web Site (main web site on port 80)" should be I have Extended a Sharepoint Web Site (default web site on port 12137)
