How do I restore site content on WSS 3.0 site?
Yesterday we did some updates on our web server and had to restart and restored to a state which was a couple months ago. However I have been backing up the WSS databases on a daily basis using SQL 2005. The databases being backed up daily are: Sharepoint_AdminContent, Sharepoint Config and WSS_Content. So I did a restore of these databases but the content still shows content from a couple months ago when the last snapshot was done of the server. How do I restore the site content to reflect the backup done a couple days ago?

Hello, I take it these are SQL backups and not SharePoint backups? When you restore the database over the existing database it should have everything since the date of that backup. I've done this many times. Can you look at the AllUserData table in WSS_Content and confirm you see recent data in there? Specifically look at nvarchar1 column, that'll be the Title field. IMPORTANT do not modify anything in your SQL database as that will break stuff and Microsoft won't support you. Hi David, I looked at the AllUserData table in the WSS_Content database and I am not seeing recent data in there. Do you know what may have caused this?

I'm not sure how that could've happened unless the restore didn't execute properly. Try a restore again, maybe restore it to a different database name and see if that db has your data. If it does, you can point WSS content db to that new db instead of the old one. Hi Trennie, Did you back up the live transaction log of the current database to protect any changes that have been made since the last full backup? Did you restore the most recent differential database backup since the last full database backup? Did you restore all transaction log backups since the last full or differential database backup? If not, please do that and check the effect. For more information about Restore databases (Windows SharePoint Services 3.0), please refer to the following article: Restore databases (Windows SharePoint Services 3.0) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc719752(office.12).aspx Hopefully this can help you.
