How do I export a document library from SharePoint to the file system?
I need to export a document library from SharePoint to the file system? I need it to retain its folder structure, and if possible, have the documents retain last modified by date/user. Is this possible?

Open the document library in explorer view, copy all the content and paste it into your file system, that should work.

If Karla's suggestion of Windows Explorer View doesn't work (its a great starting point, but I know that Explorer View can be very finicky) and you have access to a SharePoint server in your environment, you might want to try Keith Richie's SPIEFolder tool on CodePlex: http://spiefolder.codeplex.com I've used it for this sort of thing w/ great success in the past, but it does have to be run on a SharePoint server, so if you don't have that kind of access to SharePoint its not going to work for you. I'm not sure how it retains the audit data on the documents, but I don't remember hearing any issues about it from the customer I used it for. Thanks. I'm new to SharePoint and assumed I'd have to extract them via SQL.
