How do I delete a dismounted mailbox database........
I have a dismounted mailbox database on our Exchange 2010 SP1 that does not exist in the directory structure at all.  How do I delete it since it show a couple old user mailboxes that obviously aren't there since the database isn't on my hard drive?

Hi,

You can Delete the Public Folder Store through ADSIEDIT

1. Open Adsiedit.msc from run command
2. Navigate to your configuration container

3. Expand to services, Microsoft Exchange, your org name, admin groups, servers, locate your server, expand, Expand information store, and storage group that houses your database store.

On the right pane, delete the store.

I really don't think that's a correct answer.

Find the users in the AD that have the mailbox database assigned to them and remove the mailbox:

"get-mailbox -database <database-name>" or just use the EMC to search for the mailboxes in that database.

Once the mailbox has been removed from those users you can use the UI to remove the database.

Using ADSI for simple tasks is just wrong.

It is final way to remove the database which is already gone missing.

yes. If the database is still there, use ECP is better and safety. But if the database file is gone for ever. ADSI is the only to remove it from exchange system.

follow the steps:

  •  Move the Hidden system mailbox to other database
  • move the users mailbox
  • delete the database from EMC
  • Until if you don't remove the hidden system mailbox, you cant delete the database , if hidden mailbox exists
