How do I add drivers to the boot image??
Hi I'm trying to add drivers to my boot image but in vain untill now because i think that's why I'm having these unsuccessful deployments of my image like NTLDR missing and Bootmgr is missing at the end of the process. below is the exmple of how I want to make mny boot image look like( oops i cant paste a snapshot of it)And I would like to know the minimum time for the CCM to starting deployment assuming I set the mandatory assignment to As soon as possible.Help much appreciated.

Hi , The problem your descibing :NTLDR missing ==> Probally missing your mass storage drivers in your task sequenceBootmgr is missing ===> Probally missing the step setup windows and Config Mgr in your task sequence For importing drivers into your boot image : First import your driver into the driver database Then select the drivers and selct add to boot images Refresh your DP and your good to go Hope it helps ,Kenny Buntinxhttp://scug.be/blogs/sccm/

Thanks,I tried to import the drivers to the driver database but was unsuccesful, giving me error message that the drivers I'm trying to import do not match however they are the same drivers that I use in the driver package folder, tried to drag and drop the network driver for HP DX7400 to the boot image in vain too..With regards to the NTLDR missing surely I applied autoapply drivers to that TS unless there is something else I'm missing.thanks

hey there ,Probally why you cannot import your driver in your driver package is explained below . I had the same issue a while ago when building HP machines . 1. Go to the intel site and download the last mass storage drivers ( iastor.inf ) .2. import those into the driver db 3. Remove out of your driver package the mass storage driver that will come along with the ICH 9 or 10 chipset ....4. import your intel mass storage drivers into your driver package 5. replicate your DP6. Your done !Hope it Helps ,Kenny Buntinxwww.scug.be/blogs/sccm/

My "Add Driver Package to Boot Image" Option is grayed out/disabled somehow and unavailable to click on. do you know why this is? All of my boot images show the same thing. I can't add a driver package to any of them and I need to update a network driver on a couple of them. On the old WDS I used to be able to do it using peimg command in the WAIK command prompt but that feature doesn't work anymore? Thanks, Caleb

This option is not available on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. It's only available in Win7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.Thanks,Ajay

I am sorry , but your statement is not correct here . You could always add drivers to your boot image , because it is not related to the OS version , but to the version of the WAIK.I could be wrong here , but it was never possible to add driver Packages to the boot image http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680705.aspx Hope it helps , Kenny Buntinx www.scug.be/blogs/sccm/

When you say "Refresh DP" do you mean from the boot images or from driver package or from both places? Please clarify. Thanks

Refresh DP = Update DP. if you change an existing package source, (such as by adding a driver) you must incorporate the changed source into the package & distribute it to the DP's that hold an outdated copy of that package. so if you change the boot image and/or the driver package, then Update the DP's so they are all at the latest package version. this is the same as for software distribution in ConfigMgr.tesgroup
