How can I use stsadm to remove users from the People and Groups area
Here is my question. I have employees who have been termianted. I have used the stsadm -o deleteuser -url http://site.com -userlogin site\user, and I receive the confirmation. How do I remove the users from the People and Groupsarea when you go to People and Groups and then select All People. Though I have completed the deletuser command, the names still reside in this area. Thanks for your input.

Hi, Deletes a user account from the specified site collection and specified group. Use the group parameter to specify the name of the group to which the user belongs. stsadm -o deleteuser-url <URL name>-userlogin[-group] <group>Best Regards, Ammar MCT

Thanks Ammar,I don't think that will work, as I have tried that as well. Because the groups within our environment are 100% controled by AD, there are no groups associated other than AD accounts. We do allow for a select few to be Designers or Contributors. With us not allowing SP groups, this wont work. When you look at the url, the path is http://site.com/_layouts/people.aspx. When you look at the Quick Launch, you will see Groups listed and then All People and then Site Permissions. When clicking into the All People link, you will have a list of all the people who have visited the site. That is where I am trying to remove all users from my list. The command: stsadm -o deleteuser -url http://site.com -userlogin site\userremoves them from the Site Permissions area, but not the All People... which is the goal...

Hi, Remove Users from Group: This option will delete the selected user (or security group) from the group. However, that user will stay in the all people list for the site, they just wont have any permissions applied to them. They will have to be added to back to the site so they can have permissions applied to them again. In order to remove a user entirely from the site collection (instead of having them hanging around groupless), you need to either go to that users user information in People and Groups and select Delete from Site Collection. Or, on the All People page, select the user or users you want to remove from the site collection, and under Actions, select Delete Users from Site Collection. Once you have done this the user account will be gone from the SharePoint site collection completely (unless there is a subsite that is not inheriting permissions and is using that account).http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd728295.aspxBest Regards, Ammar MCT

Hi, Did anyone find the solution for this? I am using MOSS and I have around 100+ site collections. I have batch script to delete users from groups but I still see them in 'All People List'. Going to each site collection is time consuming. Is there any way through script to delete user(s) from All People List? Thanks Ali
