How can I use a Dataset as the parameter to a number of tables?
Hi, Reporting Services on SQL Server 2005 Tools Business Intelligence It's been a couple of years since I last used reporting services and I am trying to remember how I can list Invoice No Linked Documents. What I have done was to have a table for each set of details related to an Invoice Number - hence each it had it's own query which took the Invoice Number as a parameter. However I want the Invoice Number parameter for each of these queries to come from another Datasource that gets a list of Invoice Numbers. I used a List Control with the List Datasource and placed all the tables inside. I am unable to get this to work. Do I have to return one recordset and use grouping. Any ideas? Thanks. John.

Create an dataset which retrieves the desired InvoiceNumbers. I'd need more details on how your report works, but one option is to alter the Invoice Number parameter which is used in the other datasets to get the available values from your new dataset, and set the default for this parameter to All.Martina White

Hi John, Just like Martina White's advise, firstly, create an dataset which retrieves the desired InvoiceNumbers from other datasource, then filter your dat region(tables) on the main report using this parameter, and then lay the table into a list, the list should be grouped by InvoiceNumber filed. For more information about Using Multivalue Parameters as filter, please see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337292.aspx If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
