How can I export an attribute to a small group of users rather than the entire metaverse?
I've been tasked to implement FIM into our environment and for the past 3 weeks have been working with the product. I currently have Lotus Notes, AD and People Soft Container Spaces and joining on an EmployeeNumber attribute. So far I have not
performed exports, just imports into the Metaverse to get my "clean" user profile.
My manager wants me to start populating our Lotus Notes accounts with the users Managers name. He asked me to do this to a small number of people first (10-20 users) and if that's successful move on to a hundred or so.
How can I accomplish this? Can I perform a Run Profile command on the Metaverse for just a small number of users?

are you just using the sync engine, or also the portal? (BTW, you should move your question to the FIM forum)Paul Loonen (Avanade) | MCM: Directory 2008 | MVP: ILM

It is FIM 2010, but we are not licensed for the portal. So I'm just using the Sync Engine portion which is more in line to ILM.

If using the just the sync engine you could use advanced flow rules, probably for export since that's where you are trying to filter this. Using the advanced flow rules, you can have logic in place to only apply this rule if a certain attribute has a certain
value. For example, you can have the rule check that the displayName attribute in the MV starts with a 'S' character, and if it does, then flow the value from the MV to the target object. If it doesn't start with character, then it won't flow.

Sounds easy, but I haven't messed with the coding portion yet. Is there a good book, website, CBT that explains how to do this?

I have link to developer reference site for sync engine(FIM, ILM or MIIS) on MSDN:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms695345(VS.85).aspx
I would start here. Between the developer reference and threads in this forum, you should be able to find what you need.
