How can I Broadcast a Shutdown Message in Sharepoint 2007?
I can see them in the sharepoint server > event viewer list. The sharepoint users are logged into SQL with a service account. Is there any solution to broadcast a note to the sharepoint or application server users? Thanks,Sara

Hi Sara, Thanks to share your post. For the issue you have post in this forum, more detailed information might be useful for solving your issue. And do you mean that you want to send a message in this situation: Broadcast message from foo@foo (/dev/tty2) at 19:17 ... The system is going down for reboot NOW! Connection to foo closed by remote host. Connection to foo closed. And I wonder that if this message is automatically sent by the server when it is rebooted? Followed links I think can give you a hand: http://www.openg.info/entry/broadcast-message-ad-users. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd583159(office.11).aspx Hope this could help! Leo

Thanks Leo for reply. You have correctly elaborated this nice to have feature. But, I could not find the answer in the linked urls. I can detect who has been actively logged into SharePoint from the SharePoint server > event viewer > security. But, I need to send them email. They are not connected to the server to get the OS created messages. They only way to inform users is through email. Any thoughts? Sara
