How Should Windows Explorer Function in a Site with Anonymous Access
I have a site in SharePoint configured so that the whole site allows for anonymous access, and this is working correctly. When I am not logged in and within a document library, and click Actions --> Windows Explorer, I am repeatedly prompted for my username and password. And when I hit cancel, nothing happens, and the windwos explorer window never opens. I believe the excessive prompts are the result of a different issue, but I'm am just wondering if someone can tell me how Windows Explorer is supposed to function when you are not logged in, and accessing windows explorer from a document library. Thank You

The Explorer View is an Active X control that points to the target library and as such, it has it's own functionality not tied to SharePoint. One thing is that it requires authentication in order to connect which is why you are being prompted for credentials. Basically, you cannot use Explorer View in a non-authenticated mode. I trust that answers your question... Thanks C http://www.cjvandyk.com/blog
