How SharePoint email API's works
Hi,
I would like to know, how sharepoint email API's works. I have configured the SMTP details and outgoing/incoming mail details in central administration. email is working fine if recipient is in the same domain. but if email id
is for any other domain like yahoo.com or gmail.com, it's not working.
I am looking for detailed understanding of email framework, which works in the sharepoint.

Hi Khatri,
This doesn't seems to be a problem at the SharePoint level. You have to check out at SMTP level.

In order to add email ids of other domains, you need to first change the email ID field for the users in AD and sync that profile with SharePoint.--Cheers

Thanks Chanakya for Reply. Agree this is not the sharepoint problem and need to verify settings/configuration in SMTP and for the same I am looking for SMTP understanding. Please let me know if you have any links/details to understand how SMTP
works and how it communicate with exchange server.
